This day is like 911 for a Salmon King fan. Cry  I wish Wes all the best and thank him for his amazing effort, compete level and unrecognized skills (beyond the ECHL level).

The other concern I have regarding his departure is more long term - that there were differences between him and the coaching staff, that is not good news at all. I hope Mo and company know what they are loosing with Wes' departure Huh

Well, our new captain isn't a goal scorer and is at least 5 years older then Wes.

The S-Kings better have some solid reasoning (and plan) for allowing this to happen or it could be a huge blow.

Good luck to Wes where ever he ends up.

there should be a correction to the TC article.. It makes it out that Wes quit. This is not the case Mark  told him they were not wanting him back.

As for our new captain. He must be a good leader and sticks up for his guys. Well I guess in his PIM shows he sticks up for his guys. I honestly think a player like him will be a welcome fit to our club. We have been lacking the toughness last year.
I still dont think a player like Pete is A Captain kinda guy. Maybe a Assistant captain. Cant do too much leading from the box.

So I wish Wes and his Family all the best and I am sure we all will follow his career where ever he ends up.
Also Thanks to Wes for doing all the things he did in the rink and out of the rink for the people of Victoria.

I'm sure that we'll see a FANTASTIC increase in STH's after this change  Roll Eyes  --  especially with the SK's 'effective'  Wink off season marketing

Just got this e-mail....

Dear Salmon Kings Nation,
It is with mixed emotion that I write to you today in regards to the new era of Salmon Kings hockey. This offseason has seen many changes and some very important additions that will be announced over the coming weeks.
While I'm excited about the future it is important to recognize the past and to thank those that have been a large part in helping to provide the foundation for this organization. To begin, the Salmon Kings' family would like to thank Wes Goldie and his family for his four years with our organization. He represented the team and himself in a professional manner, and his contributions as a part of this team and the community will be remembered.
Our goal as an organization is to improve every season and compete for a championship. While we have had reasonable success over the past few seasons we have not achieved our goal. This evolution requires change and a collective team effort to continue to see our upward progression.
Wes was offered a position with our team that would have continued to allow him to play an important role for us. When Wes and his family made their final decision it was to move on from Victoria. We wish him and his family continued success.
We have been given an opportunity to improve our leadership this offseason. It is with no disrespect to Wes and his accomplishments while with the Salmon Kings, but we have chosen to take this opportunity. As an organization we believe this gives us the best opportunity to achieve our goal of a championship.
General Manager and Head Coach Mark Morrison along with his hockey operations department have begun to put a very strong squad together for next season. There will be many significant signings announced over the coming weeks as we continue to aggressively pursue success.
The 2010-11 season is shaping up to be an exciting one and we look forward to your continued support as you join us for another great season of Salmon Kings' hockey!
Sincerely,

I dont know about anyone else but if your BOSS calls you down. I wouldnt be signing any contracts with him again.

If the Kings are going to treat players like this, there will be no players here unless they have to be here.

Well I'm going to tell you guys something, I gave up on this organization last season and wouldn't attend the final series. My main concerns were all the deals for tickets that only cost $5 yet no deals for STH's. Now they do this to Wes after all he has done for the team, they basically treated Robyn Gomez this way and I've had it with this group. I think they need a new affilliate as both the Canucks and the Moose have given diddly squat to the Kings. I will still listen and go to the odd game but after 6 seasons of supporting these deadbeat nominds I will stop buying season tickets for now.

bring us the cup or leave town!  so far all we have seen is TALK.  This statement is very bold of the organization.  Why wait to till us these significant signings?  The smart move would have been to make these announcements before the fans heard about all of the departures.  Seems to me that not many, if any of last years players will be back.  And know we have heard from 2 players that have stated they dont want to come back Goldie and Latendresse)

Tragic, I am stunned by this. How could they do this to Wes for all he has done for the team and the city? Yes I know this is pro sports and things happen, but I doubt many loyal fans saw this coming. Being a six year season ticket holder leaves me to wonder if it is worth it to continue to support this franchise with money up front. Me and the family might just walk up and buy a ticket to the odd game for it seems like we can get a better deal that way. Maybe the WHL would not be that bad of an idea. As long as Dakers and Morrison have nothing to do with it.

ALL THE BEST WES GOLDIE WHERE EVER YOU GO!!!!

Maybe #16 should be the first jersey to be retired from the Salmon Kings.
