Dear Friends,

I want everyone to read this and understand what I am saying...

This is why the VSA forum exists...
"Our discussion forum allows users to post information relevant to their sport, their league, and their specific team. And discussion of professional leagues in every sport means that those with an interest in sports at every level can come together in one place to talk sports."

This is NOT why the VSA forum exists...

• to repeatedly bash RG Properties, the City, the Mayor or our new Entertainment facility
• to call people names, to be condescending towards others or to call local professional athletes (or coaches) bums or anything else non-productive
• this is not a Salmon Kings Club Seat Holders benefits discussion forum - if you don't think you got value this year, contact those that can do something about it

The simple facts are:

• This forum costs me roughly $150 a month to run
• I do this because I've made lots of friends through it and I want to promote what my company can do - Technology, and I'm especially interested in being involved in Sports in Victoria
• I am not affiliated with RG in any way.  I 'manage' the Salmon Kings and Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre websites in exchange for season tickets and a lighted sign in the arena - I am not paid to do this and the effort I put in (ie. time I could be billing customers) would pay for 25 lighted signs...

So, based on those facts, I could only be doing this for fun really, right?

But you know what?  It isn't fun anymore.  The same old tired topics are beaten over and over, some people love me while others hate me (because they think I have some sort of agenda or that they could do a better job) - I would prefer to be appreciated for providing this site but lately, that is hardly the case.

So, okay, its not fun.  But what about the marketing opportunity!  Oh right, my company logo in the top right hand corner of the site.  Yep, that's there because I want people to know what I do. But lately, it is EMBARRASSING to be associated with much of the talk that goes on and frankly, I'm sure RG doesn't like me (or VHF) much because they will associate all the bad vibes being expressed, not with you posters but with me (itgroove) and the VSA.

So, seriously, what is the bloody point of spending all the time that I do (and VHF and the Mods).

Ok, rant over.  Here's the deal.

Let's get back to discussing sports (and general topics of interest in the appropriate threads).  Not sporting facilities, not who pays for what.  Lets talk about our Kings but lets support the team, not beat them into the ground.

I have given all Mods the ability from this point forward (what is in the past, is in the past) to delete your posts immediately, without explanation, should they not offer any sporting merit or do not support sports in Victoria.  Any threads that are started that resurrect a topic that has been beaten to death will be immediately locked and reported.  Repeat offenders will be banned for a week, repeat again, a month, one more time and you won't be back.

Bring your complaints to VHF and I but please understand, to keep this forum useful, fun and informative, we have to change the direction in which it has headed...

Ps.  Thank your local mod the next time you see him.  They aren't paid either and have to put up with a lot of crap too...

The only thing you forgot to mention was a thank you to yourself fanatic - you do a fantastic job keeping us all in the loop, and I think that the least you deserve is a clean, fun forum to read as a result!

Interesting.  But with only about 10 people on here lately, you could all just buy me a beer instead

We want more people on here and the problem is, I believe all this negativity has chased a LOT of people away.... perhaps when we grow and fix these 'problems' fully, we could look into that.  Thanks for the suggestion MVP.

Yes, but VSA isn't other forums. I think I speak for fanatic when I say that we want to keep this forum open to anyone and everyone to share their thoughts and have a good time.

Thanks.  But, and I want to make this clear, I'm not reaching out for compliments or thanks with this message.  I don't need an attaboy or a pat on the back, at this point frankly, it comes down to a business decision - I'm losing money, I'm potentally harming a relationship with the local hockey team I love and I'm harming my businesses reputation.  Its pretty simple really, if things don't improve, I'm pulling the plug...

Three topics that should never be discussed, politics, religion, and taxes, and now hockey (4) Much of the problems lie with the dismal W/L record and first year fans (including me) anticipated better hockey in all areas, and of course it takes it's toll on forum guys, then you end up with what's happening here. Unfortunately it's risky business for you. Hopefull this forum takes a turn for the better. Nothing wrong with happy fans or dissatisfied fans to voice there thoughts, but it will get carried away because of the frustration of the past two years. I've read other forums and it happens there too. Looking at this with open mind majority of fans are nuts about hockey and make some posts that are a result of the product witnessed here in Victoria.

Yep all true and there is 'always next year'.  All I'm asking is listen to your Mother...

Hey Fanatic --  You have been doing one heck of a job!!

I had NO idea that there was no bucks in it for you!   The way that the site is set up and updated immediately shows us all that you are one committed individual.

Not to " Pat you on the Back" -   but I would personally like to thank you for all your interest and input to date.

I always look forward to clicking on the site and checking all the feedback on the topics listed.

I have been guilty of slamming various individuals myself, and for that I do personally apologize.

Positive and informative discussions are always interesting and entertaining.

Would it maybe an idea to charge a " Token " membership Fee per month to assist you in your operating costs?

I, for one, would be willing to participate if you might decide to go this route.

Continuation of your site is important to all the Sports fans in Victoria. 

With the Salmon Kings, under Mr. Ward, bringing a better,  more entertaining, and competitive product to the ice next year, it is imperative that this site continue in the format you have set up, and it " Has Got To Be Fun " for you!!

Quit it you guys, Money, membership, elite members, whatever, money is not going to fix the problem that Fanatic and this forum has and is encountering, it's anyone who posts has the obligation to change.
